Account and login

Joining and connection problems

• Find your server address and connect: What address do I type in Minecraft to join my server?

• Connection timed out or server shows offline in the list: It says "Connection timed out", or the server has no ping in the list.
• Outdated client or outdated server: It says "Outdated client" or "Outdated server".
• Failed to verify username or invalid session: I get "Failed to verify username" or "Invalid session".
• Not whitelisted or banned from your own server: It says I am not whitelisted, or I banned myself.
• Friends cannot join but you can: I can join but my friends can't.
• Mod mismatch or missing mods when joining: Joining my modded server says mods are missing or mismatched.
• Disconnected during play: io.netty, connection reset or timed out: Players randomly get "Internal exception: io.netty…" or "Connection reset".
• Resource pack will not download: Players get "Failed to download resource pack".
• Stuck on loading terrain or game crashes when joining: I get stuck on "Loading terrain" or my game crashes when I join.

RAM, CPU, performance, and lag

• Find out why your server lags: My server lags. Where do I even start?
• Out of memory errors: The server crashed with OutOfMemoryError, Java heap space or GC overhead limit exceeded.
• RAM always shows high in the panel: The panel shows RAM at 90-100% all the time. Is that bad?
• High CPU usage: CPU is always at the limit in Statistics.
• Too many entities, mob farms and item build-ups: Lag near farms, villagers, animals or lots of dropped items.
• Redstone and hopper lag: Redstone contraptions or hoppers are lagging the server.
• View distance and simulation distance: What should my view-distance and simulation-distance be?
• Pre-generate the world and set a world border: Lag when players explore new areas or fly with elytra.
• Lag after adding a plugin, mod or modpack: The server started lagging after I installed something.
• Pick software for performance: Paper, Purpur, Folia or Fabric: Which server software is the fastest?
• Lag for one player only, or high ping: Only one player lags, or everyone has high ping but TPS is fine.
• More RAM did not fix the lag: I upgraded RAM but the server still lags.

Crashes, startup failures, and errors

• Find and read crash reports and logs: My server crashed. Where is the crash report and how do I read it?
• Server stuck in a restart loop or will not start after an update: The server keeps crashing on startup since I updated.
• Java version errors: Errors like "Unsupported class file major version" or "requires Java 21".
• Failed to bind to port or unable to access jarfile: Errors "Failed to bind to port" or "Unable to access jarfile".
• Crash or error caused by a plugin: A plugin is crashing the server or is disabled with errors.
• Crash caused by a mod: My modded server crashes on start (mixin errors, missing dependencies, duplicate mods).
• Server freezes or watchdog kills it: The server freezes and then "The server has stopped responding" or the watchdog kills it.
• Ticking entity or ticking block entity crash: Crash report says "Ticking entity" or "Ticking block entity".
• Disk full crash: The server crashed with "No space left on device".
• Exit code 137 or killed during startup: The console says the server stopped with exit code 137.
• YAML config errors: The console says a .yml file has an error (mapping values, while scanning).

Plugins, mods, and modpacks

• Install a plugin in one click: How do I add a plugin to my server?

• A plugin will not load or shows red: My plugin does not show up, or it is red in /plugins.
