Upload, edit and back up your bot's files
How do I manage my bot's files and keep a copy of them?
Use the Files tab for uploading and editing in the browser, SFTP for larger projects, and the Backups tab to take a copy before a risky change.
Before you start: Your bot's panel. For SFTP, a client such as FileZilla or WinSCP.
Step by step
- Open Files to upload, create, edit, rename and delete files. Click a file to edit it in the browser.
- For many files at once, open Settings and copy the SFTP host, port 2022 and username, then connect with your SFTP client using your CoreX account password.
- Stop the bot before replacing files it has open, such as a SQLite database, then start it again afterwards.
- Open Backups and click Create backup before a big change. Every bot plan includes one backup slot; delete the old backup to take a new one, or add slots from Billing.
- To go back, open Backups and restore the backup. It puts your files back as they were, your saved environment variables included.
- Keep your own copy of your code as well, for example in a private Git repository. A backup on the same service is not a substitute for one somewhere else.
Check it worked: Your files show under Files, and Backups lists a completed backup.
Why it happens: Your bot's files stay on its disk between restarts, so databases and logs it writes are kept.
