AI key, usage and costs
How is AI usage billed, and is my API key safe?
The add-on is a monthly CoreX price; the AI itself runs on your Anthropic account, which bills you for tokens. Your key is encrypted and only used for your server.
Before you start: Access to console.anthropic.com.
Step by step
- See this month's tasks, tokens and estimated cost in the AI Builder tab (This month).
- Set a monthly task cap and a cheaper model in AI Settings to control spending.
- Set a spend limit in your Anthropic console as well.
- Remove the key any time with Remove key; it is deleted from CoreX, not just hidden.
- If the server changes owner, the key stops working and must be connected again.
- Cancel the add-on in This month > Cancel add-on; it works until the end of the paid period.
Check it worked: Usage matches what you expect and your Anthropic bill stays within your limit.
Why it happens: CoreX never pays for or marks up AI usage.
