Roll back an AI change or fix a failed task

The AI broke something or a task failed. What now?

Open the task and click Rollback to restore the files from the backup taken before it applied; failed tasks never changed your server.

Before you start: The AI Builder tab.

Step by step

  1. Open the task from History and read "What went wrong" or the summary.
  2. Failed before applying (validation failed, cancelled, timed out): nothing changed. Try a clearer or smaller request.
  3. Applied but wrong: click Rollback. The files return to their state before this task, and the server reloads or restarts the same way.
  4. If later AI tasks changed the same files, roll those back first (newest first).
  5. If you edited the files by hand since, Rollback asks before overwriting your edits.
  6. If the server did not come back after a restart, CoreX rolls back automatically (unless you turned that off in AI Settings).

Check it worked: The task shows "Rolled back" and the server works as before.

Why it happens: Every change is validated and backed up before it is applied.

If rollback reports the backup is missing, restore a regular backup from the Backups tab.
