Card declined at checkout
My card payment was declined when I tried to pay.
The decline comes from your bank, not CoreX: check the card details and limits, approve any bank app prompt, then retry or use another card.
Before you start: The card you want to use, your banking app, and the open invoice or checkout page.
Step by step
- Read the message on the payment page: "insufficient funds", "card declined" or "authentication required" each point to a different fix below.
- Check the card number, expiry date, CVC and the billing postcode exactly as printed/registered with your bank.
- Open your banking app: approve the payment if it asks (3-D Secure), and make sure online and international payments are enabled. CoreX charges in US dollars, which some banks treat as international.
- Retry the payment from the same invoice (Billing > open invoice > Pay). Do not create a new order for each attempt; that only leaves unpaid orders behind.
- If it still fails, try a different card, or call the number on the back of the card and ask them to allow the charge from Stripe/CoreX.
- Prepaid and some virtual cards are often refused for recurring payments; a regular debit or credit card works best.
Check it worked: The invoice shows Paid and your server is created or unsuspended within a few minutes.
Why it happens: Banks decline for insufficient funds, online or international payments being switched off, a 3-D Secure check not completed, or fraud rules on a new merchant.
If every card fails with the same message, send support the invoice number (never the card number).
