Restore a backup

How do I restore a backup?

Stop the server, choose the backup in Backups and Restore; the server files go back to that moment.

Before you start: Know which backup you want (check the date and name).

Step by step

  1. Optional but wise: make a fresh backup of the current state first, in case you want it back.
  2. Press Stop and wait for the server to be Offline, so it does not write while files are replaced.
  3. In Backups, click Restore on the backup. Choose Replace everything (a clean restore) or Restore over the current files, which keeps anything added since.
  4. Wait for it to finish; large backups take several minutes. Do not start the server during the restore.
  5. Start the server and check the world and plugins.
  6. To restore only the world, download the backup, take just the world folders out on your PC and upload them.

Check it worked: The world is as it was at the backup time.

Why it happens: Restoring replaces the current files with the backup's.

If a restore fails or hangs for over 30 minutes, contact support with the server ID.
