RCON and query

Can I use RCON or query?

RCON and query need their own ports; ask support for ports and keep RCON's password strong and private.

Before you start: An extra port from support.

Step by step

1. Ask support for a port for RCON (and one for query if needed).
2. In server.properties set enable-rcon=true, rcon.port=<that port> and rcon.password=<a long random password>.
3. For query, set enable-query=true and query.port=<port>.
4. Restart the server from the Console tab so the new ports open.
5. Test with an RCON client using the host, the RCON port and the password.
6. Never share the RCON password; anyone with it controls the server. The panel console is safer for most people.

Check it worked: RCON clients connect with the password.

Why it happens: Both are off by default and need open ports.
