Dedicated IP
Should I get a dedicated IP?
A dedicated IP ($3.50/month) gives your server its own address, so it can use the default port and a cleaner address.
Before you start: Billing access.
Step by step
- Decide if you need it: a dedicated IP helps if you want an address without a port, or a domain with only an A record.
- Add the Dedicated IPv4 add-on in Billing and pay the prorated amount.
- After it is set up, check Network for the new IP and port.
- Update your domain's A record (and SRV record if you have one) to the new IP.
- Tell players the new address; the old shared address stops working for this server once it moves.
- Removing the add-on later puts the server back on a shared IP at the next renewal.
Check it worked: Players join using the new IP.
Why it happens: Without one, the server shares the node's IP with its own port.
