High CPU usage
CPU is always at the limit in Statistics.
Something is doing too much work each tick: entities, farms, chunk generation or a plugin. Find it with spark, then reduce it or upgrade.
Before you start: spark installed (Plugins tab).
Step by step
- Run spark profiler start, wait a few minutes during the high CPU, then spark profiler stop, and open the link.
- Look at the top entries: entity ticking, a plugin name, world generation or redstone.
- Chunk generation from exploring is a common cause: pre-generate the world (see that guide) and set a world border.
- Lower simulation-distance to reduce how much of the world is active.
- Remove or configure the heavy plugin shown by spark.
- If the load is normal play and still maxed out, a larger plan gives more CPU (for example 8 GB = 600%).
Check it worked: CPU drops below the limit at busy times and TPS stays at 20.
Why it happens: The plan's CPU allowance is shared across the server's threads (100% = one thread); the main game loop mostly uses one.
