Upload a plugin jar yourself

The plugin I want is not in the Plugins tab. How do I upload it?

Download the .jar from the plugin's official page (SpigotMC, Hangar, GitHub) and upload it into the plugins folder, then restart.

Before you start: The plugin .jar file for your Minecraft version, from a trusted source.

Step by step

1. Download the jar from the official page only; plugins from random re-upload sites can contain backdoors.
2. Check the plugin supports your Minecraft version and software.
3. Open Files > plugins and click Upload, then choose the .jar (upload the .jar itself, not a zip containing it).
4. Or use the Plugins tab's upload option, which checks the file is a real plugin.
5. Restart the server from the Console tab (not /reload) so it loads the new jar.
6. Run /plugins to confirm it loaded, and read the console if it is red.

Check it worked: The plugin shows green in /plugins.

Why it happens: Not every plugin is on Modrinth, and premium plugins come as files.
