Set up ranks and permissions with LuckPerms

How do I make ranks and give players permissions?

Install LuckPerms, create groups (ranks), give each group permissions, and add players to groups.

Before you start: LuckPerms installed from the Plugins tab and the server restarted; op on yourself.

Step by step

1. Create ranks: lp creategroup member, lp creategroup vip, lp creategroup admin.
2. Give permissions: lp group member permission set essentials.home true (use the node from the plugin's documentation).
3. Set inheritance so higher ranks include lower ones: lp group vip parent add member.
4. Put players in a rank: lp user Steve parent add vip.
5. Everyone starts in the default group; add basic permissions there: lp group default permission set essentials.spawn true.
6. For a web editor, run lp editor, make changes in the browser and apply them with the command it gives.
7. Check a player: lp user Steve permission check essentials.home.

Check it worked: Players in a rank can use the commands you allowed.

Why it happens: Players without the right permission node get "You do not have permission".
