Useful player and world commands

How do I change gamemode, teleport, give items, time, weather and game rules?

Use the standard commands from the console or as op in game.

Before you start: Op or console access.

Step by step

1. Change a player's gamemode with gamemode creative Name (or survival, adventure, spectator).
2. Teleport with tp Name OtherName to move one player to another, or tp Name 100 70 -200 to go to coordinates.
3. Give items with give Name minecraft:diamond 5; press Tab in game to complete item names.
4. Change time and weather with time set day, time set night and weather clear.
5. Change game rules, for example gamerule keepInventory true, gamerule doDaylightCycle false, gamerule playersSleepingPercentage 1.
6. Type gamerule and press Tab in game to see every rule name.

Check it worked: The command takes effect.

Why it happens: These are built into Minecraft and work on every server software.
