Reset a forgotten password
I forgot my CoreX password. How do I get back in?
Use "Forgot password" on the sign-in page: CoreX emails you a reset link, and you choose a new password from it.
Before you start: Access to the inbox of the email address on your CoreX account. If you normally use "Continue with Google", you do not need a password at all: just use the Google button.
Step by step
- Go to corex-hosting.com and click Sign in (top right), then click "Forgot password?" under the password box.
- Type the email address your CoreX account uses (not your Minecraft or Discord name) and submit. If you have more than one email, try the one your CoreX invoices go to.
- Open the email from CoreX (subject about resetting your password). If it is not in your inbox within 2 minutes, check Spam, Junk, Promotions and Updates, and search your mailbox for "corex".
- Click the reset link. It works once and expires after a short time; if it says expired or already used, go back to step 1 and ask for a new one (only the newest link works).
- Choose a new password of at least 10 characters that you do not use anywhere else. A phrase of three or four random words is strong and easy to remember.
- Sign in with the new password. If other devices ask you to sign in again, use the new password there too.
- If you use SFTP, your SFTP password is your CoreX password, so update it in FileZilla/WinSCP as well.
Check it worked: You land on your dashboard after signing in with the new password, and SFTP connects with it.
Why it happens: Passwords are stored one-way, so nobody at CoreX can look yours up; a reset link is the only way back in.
If no email arrives after 10 minutes and two attempts (and it is not in spam), open a ticket or ask on Discord from the address you registered with; staff can confirm the account email but will never ask for your password.
