Find and read crash reports and logs

My server crashed. Where is the crash report and how do I read it?

Crash reports are in the crash-reports folder and the full log is logs/latest.log; the important part is the first error and the "Caused by" lines.

Before you start: The panel open on Files.

Step by step

  1. Open Files > crash-reports and open the newest file (named by date and time).
  2. Read the "Description" line near the top, then the first lines of the stack trace below it.
  3. Look for package names that identify a plugin or mod (for example com.example.plugin or a mod id); that is usually the culprit.
  4. For crashes without a report, open logs/latest.log and search for ERROR, Exception or "Caused by".
  5. Older logs are zipped as logs/2026-09-25-1.log.gz; download to read them.
  6. When asking for help, share the crash report file or paste it on a paste site (mclo.gs) instead of screenshots.

Check it worked: You know which plugin, mod or file caused the crash.

Why it happens: Minecraft writes a report on a crash, and every run is logged.

If the report names no plugin or mod, send support the crash report.
