Crash or error caused by a plugin

A plugin is crashing the server or is disabled with errors.

Update, reconfigure or remove the plugin named in the error.

Before you start: The plugin name from the console.

Step by step

  1. Find the plugin in the error ("Error occurred while enabling X" or a package name).
  2. Check it supports your Minecraft version and software; update it from the Plugins tab or its download page.
  3. Install any dependency it asks for (Vault, ProtocolLib, PlaceholderAPI…).
  4. If the error is about its config, rename its folder in plugins/ to regenerate a fresh config, then copy your settings back carefully.
  5. If it still fails, remove the jar and look for an alternative.
  6. Never use /reload to test plugins; restart instead.
  7. Report the error to the plugin's author with the log if it is their bug.

Check it worked: The plugin enables (green in /plugins) and the server runs.

Why it happens: Outdated plugins, missing dependencies or broken configs.
