Split one server into several

Can I split my RAM into a lobby and a survival server?

Yes: the Server Splitter tab divides your server's RAM, CPU, disk and backup slots into sub-servers, each with its own console, files and address, and you can move resources between them at any time.

Before you start: A plan big enough to share (for example 8 GB split into 2 + 6 GB) and a plan for which server does what.

Step by step

  1. Take a backup of the main server first.
  2. Open the panel and go to Server Splitter. The Resource pool bars show everything your plan includes and who holds it.
  3. Under New sub-server, give it a name, pick the software and version, and choose its RAM. CPU and disk follow the RAM share until you move them yourself; backup slots are a separate choice.
  4. Stop the main server (the page offers a Stop button) and click Create sub-server. The original keeps whatever is left.
  5. To change a sub-server later, move its sliders or steppers and click Apply changes. Whichever server is giving up RAM has to be stopped first; CPU, disk and backup slots can move while everything runs.
  6. Start, stop, restart or rename each sub-server from its card, or click Open for its own console and files.
  7. To remove one, click the bin on its card and type its name. Its files are deleted and all of its resources go back to the main server.
  8. Billing stays on the original server: the sub-servers share its plan, and your price does not change.

Check it worked: Each sub-server starts and has its own address and port.

Why it happens: Networks (a proxy plus several backends) need separate servers, and splitting avoids buying each one.
